House Report : WARNE HOUSE (2014-15)

House Master – Mr. Tiwary

House Mistress - Mrs.N.Chanda

Captain - Dibyojyoti Basak

Vice Captain - Rounak Ghosh

The house system is a traditional feature in all heritage schools to instill among the students a sense of responsibility and team work. The Calcutta Boys’ School is no exception to it. However, Warne House is something beyond that – we are a family in the name of a house, where we have learnt to never give in.

The school organized various Inter-House competitions throughout the year and our house performed pretty well in most of them. In order of succession in the CBS Calendar, they are as follows:

Lingua Fiesta: Our house performed spectacularly on the first day of the event, with Abhigyan Saha and Chinmay Pati winning the English Debate. Abhigyan Saha ended up being the Best Speaker for the day. However Ramal Afrose, Debarsie Dey, Dipro Nath, Dibyojyoti Basak, Sourya Basu, Bibaswan Acharya, Shreus Taraphdar and Ratul Ghosh all played integral roles and performed their duties marvelously. We won the Tri-Lingual Quiz, and ended up securing the 2nd position.

  • Independence Day: Our school arranged for a programme, where all the four houses had to perform patriotic songs. With all the efforts from teachers and students our house shared the first position with the other two houses.
  • COSMA (COmputer Science and MAths festival): In this event, the junior students performed pretty well, and impressed the judges with their innovative ideas. Though our boys tried their best, it was not enough and we finished third in this event.
  • Panorama (The annual athletic meet and field display): In the off track events, our house performed well indeed, with Amandeep Chanda winning two gold medals and one silver medal. Krishnasish Mandal also performed well and won a gold medal. With all the efforts of our house members, we won the Tug-O-War, and lifted the Subrata Mahapatra Memorial Trophy. On the day of the Annual Sports meet our house could not perform well, passing the Rolling Shield to Henderson House. Amandeep Chanda won the Best Athlete in the ‘A’- Divison and Shubham Ghosh of class 8A won the Best Athlete in the ‘C’-Division. We put up a good fight, but unfortunately could not keep the momentum and ended up securing the 3rd position. Overall we secured the 3rd position in the session 2014-15.

We must thank our teachers Mr.Tiwari, Mrs, Chanda, Mrs. M. Mukherjee and Mr. N.D.Chaudhuri for being a positive source of inspiration all throughout the year, and being a

shinny example to all of us; under whose guidance and nurturing students are fulfilling their potential on the big stage.

“SUCCESS IS NO ACCIDENT.
It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love and believe in what you are doing.”
-Pele

This is our motto for the year.

Rounak Ghosh (11 Science)

Vice Captain (2014-15).

House Report : WARNE HOUSE (2015-16)

Vice Captain - Swarnava Ghosh

The house system is a traditional feature in all heritage schools to instill among the students a sense of responsibility and team work. The Calcutta Boys’ School is no exception to it. However, Warne House is something beyond that – we are a family in the name of a house, where we have learnt to never give in.

There has been only one significant Inter-House event in the CBS Calendar till date, which is the Lingua Fiesta. The Lingua Fiesta is a festival which tests the linguistic finesses (in all the three languages – English, Hindi and Bengali) of the participants from various houses through competitions, which includes Creative Writing Competition, Debate, Elocution as well as a Quiz. Our house’s performance throughout the event was commendable indeed, with our house securing the overall 3rd position. Abhigyan Saha, together with Chinmay Pati, secured the 2nd position in the English Debate, after a fierce debate against the Thoburn House participants who eventually won the debate. However, Abhigyan Saha ended up being the Best Speaker for the day. Sourya Basu, Bibaswan Acharya, Ratul Ghosh, Dipro Nath and Aditya Garai played integral roles and performed marvelously. We ended up securing the 2nd position in the Quiz.

We thank our teachers Mr. A.K.Tiwari, Mrs. N. Chanda, Mrs. M. Mukherjee, Mr. N.D.Chaudhuri for being a positive source of inspiration and helping us whole heartedly.

Swarnava Ghosh (11 Science)
Vice-Captain (2015-16).
